Running toilets, weeping fittings and frozen lines, fixed while they are small
Leaks and clogs, toilet and faucet repair, hot and cold water lines, water heater installation and broken pipes around Knoxville. John Blakemore replaces the worn fitting instead of patching it.
Chapter 01
Where does a slow leak hide before it floods a room?
John Blakemore's rule on plumbing is printed on his own services page: old toilet or sink fittings are often the cause of much larger and more expensive problems, such as floods that require wall, ceiling and floor replacements. The leak that does the damage is rarely the dramatic one. It is a fitting that weeps a little behind a wall or under a cabinet until the wood around it gives up.
A toilet that keeps running is the same story in a quieter voice. The flush valve is not sealing, so water slips into the bowl all day and the tank refills over and over. The third trouble spot is a pipe that froze: ice can crack a line, and the leak only shows itself after the thaw, usually somewhere nobody is looking.

Shut-offs first, then the fitting and not just the washer
A plumbing visit starts with finding the shut-offs, at the fixture and at the house, before a single wrench comes out. Then comes the part that separates a repair from a patch: when a fitting is worn, John replaces the fitting rather than putting a new washer into a tired one and hoping.
Once the new part is in, the water goes back on slowly and he watches the joint under pressure. A fitting that is going to weep will usually show it in those first minutes, which is far better than finding it a week later in the cabinet base.
The list he works from covers leaks and clogs, toilet and faucet repair, fixture repair or installation, hot water heater installation, cold and hot water line repair or replacement, and frozen or broken pipes.
Chapter 03
What to watch for afterward, and why small stays small
After a repair, the things worth a look are plain ones: a damp cabinet floor, a stain spreading on the ceiling below a bathroom, a faucet that drips again, a toilet that refills when nobody has flushed it. Any of those is a reason to call the same week, while the fix is still a small one.
The work carries a 1-year guarantee on all labor, and the contract is paid in full only when the finished job is right. Estimates are free, and a photo of the fitting texted to 865-978-0489 lets John bring the right part the first time.

The small fix and the big repair
CAUGHT SMALL
- A worn fitting under the sink, swapped out.
- A flush valve that stopped sealing, replaced.
- A faucet that drips, repaired.
- Shut-offs found, water back on slowly, joint watched under pressure.
LEFT ALONE
A flood that needs the wall, the ceiling and the floor replaced.
That is John’s own description of what an old toilet or sink fitting can turn into. The fitting is the small part of that story, and the drywall, ceiling and flooring around it are the big part.
Not every wet wall is a pipe. A long-term laundry-room leak in John’s gallery came from a gutter that dumped at the roof junction, and the repair was on the roof, the valley and the downspout. See that job under exterior repairs, and the fixture side of the house under kitchen and bath.
