35 years on the tools
Electrical
Ceiling fans, recessed and track lights, dimmers, smoke detectors, appliance circuits and breakers, from a 35-year electrician.

John Blakemore works down the list, from a dimmer that buzzes to a porch column gone soft. Estimates are always free, every job carries a 1-year guarantee on labor, and you pay in full only when the finished work is right.
Written the same way for a loose outlet or a rebuilt porch.
Master Electrical credential, Virginia, 1994
The jobs vary. The promise doesn't: the best materials available, a realistic schedule that fits your week, and honest answers about what the problem really is.

Fix it while it's small
Leaks and clogs, running toilets, faucets, water heaters and frozen or broken lines, fixed while they are still small.

Small updates, big impact
Disposals, dishwashers, stoves, backsplash and tile, cabinets, countertops and fixtures. Small updates, big difference.

Interior and exterior
Drywall, trim and crown, pre-hung and storm doors, rotted thresholds, furniture assembly, TV mounting, sheds.

Roofline to fence line
Roof leaks and valleys, fascia and gutters, storm-damaged fences, porch columns, railings and decks.

John's rule for plumbing, and for most of a house: old toilet and sink fittings cause the floods that end in new walls, ceilings and floors. Fix the drip and you skip the drywall.
The laundry-room leak
A gutter pitched back toward the shingles was dumping water right where the metal roof meets them. John re-pitched it away, added a downspout, replaced the rotted sheathing and rebuilt the valley with the homeowner's leftover shingles.
Each one written up on his own project page, with what he found once the old work came off. The rest are in the project gallery.

38 ft of gutter, 12 to 20 ft up

Lightning strike
Damaged posts, footings and sections out. New solid posts custom cut on site to match the run that was already there.
Mantel 2 in. off the wall
Warped tongue-and-groove had shoved the mantel out. Rebuilt with treated plywood, studs, insulation, a vapor barrier and two layers of sheetrock, then the original mantel went back.

Rotten columns, original balusters kept
The rotten columns came down and went back up new, with new top and bottom rails. The balusters were sound, so they stayed. Storm and entry doors on another job got the same treatment: rotted thresholds rebuilt and new pre-hung doors set.
Exterior repairsStorm-damaged fence, back yard
“John Blakemore took on a challenging repair job for me. He replaced about half the fence in my back yard after storm damage knocked it out.”
Rob Schriver

Outlets, a can light, a stove outlet moved
“Mr. Blakemore is very professional, attentive to the project at hand, perfectionist and takes great pride in his work.”
Storage shed, built
“Not only did John do an outstanding job with assembling the foundation, walls, and roof but also he added a window, flower box, workbench and drip edge.”
Several projects, one house
“John consistently communicates his progress towards project completion and stays true to his price quotes.”

That's the contract, in John's words: “contracts are only paid in full when the finished work is to your complete satisfaction.” Tell him what's on your list and he will come look at it for free.
